Larry King retires from CNN
Jun 30th

Larry King is retiring from his show Larry King Live on CNN after 25 years on air.
King had Bill Maher on the show to help him explain his decision to step down.
After repeating his personal statement to his TV audience, King introduced Maher as an “old friend” who he invited on in light of his decision to retire. After a joke about his stepping in to replace him, King admitted that “this was tough, Bill. It was time, I was ready to do it. CNN folks agreed to it. We sat down, I’ll do specials, more time with the family. And I want to expand– I want to do other things I haven’t been able to do.”
Maher told King that, weird at is may seem given the length of King’s career, he feels “it is too soon” and frets, “I hope you’re doing this of your own volition, and not because of what the media says.” King confirms that, no, there was no pressure from CNN, and that the 25th Anniversary week featuring, among others, Lady Gaga, LeBron James, and Barack Obama made him consider retirement.
I’m gonna miss Larry I watch his show a lot, so I’m wondering who they will get to replace him…
personally I think it should be me…but I digress=)
Good luck Larry you will be missed!

Jun 15th

Dr. Steve Perry, the Connecticut principal from CNN’s “Black In America 2” sat down with Pharrell Williams to talk about America’s flawed education system.
Dr. Perry got a chance to have an intimate conversation with Pharrell, when asked by Perry why he thinks it’s important to discuss music’s influence in school he says:
“At some point you start to feel like you’re held accountable and I’m by no means saying that entertainers should raise other people’s children, it personally does something to me because that’s my whole mantra. You can do anything you wanna do, wealth is of the heart and the mind, not of the pocket…”
Pharrell also revealed how his high school band teacher changed his life by keeping him on track.
“Alan Sharkes changed my life, he was my band teacher in high school…..He wouldn’t let me stay in class if I didn’t keep my grades up……. he will tell you I was out there in the summertime, 9 a.m. in hot sweltering Virginia heat…..warming up for summer camp.
