Nicki recently sat down with E! Online for a quick interview,
where she talked about her new music video with Rihanna,
her favorite artists outside of Hip-Hop, working with Lady Gaga.

You just shot the music video for your next single “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake. What are you working on next?
We’re shooting the video with Rihanna for “Fly” this weekend. We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video and that’s all I can say about that… I love Ri-Ri! I mean, when she’s not grabbing my ass she’s a sweet girl.

Who are some of your favorite artists outside of hip hop?
I like everyone. I don’t listen to music based on genre. Like, I’ll hear a song and then I’ll live for that song for like months and I’ll be like, “Who the hell is that?” I listen to Taylor Swift. I like Coldplay. I listen to gospel a lot. I listen to anything that’s just beautiful music.

Would you do a song with Taylor?
Of course!

Personally, I think you should do a song with Lady Gaga, who you’ve been compared to in the past.
A lot of people say that to me! I’d definitely be open to it, yeah… I mean, Gaga is badass. Being compared to greats can never bother me.

What does all your success mean to you?
I’m proud that women, female rappers that come in this game after Nicki Minaj can see that, you know what? There is a chance for you to sell just as much as the boys and to be recognized. And you don’t have to feel like, because you’re a female rapper, you going to not be recognized. And so for that alone, I’m proud. I’m happy.

Lastly, are you single?
Yes. I’m single and ready to mingle [laughs].

Nicki Minaj has a feature in the latest issue of T Magazine. Inside the pages of the mag, she talks about her gay “alter-ego” Roman,
her personal style and her ongoing “beef” with Lil Kim, who she says can be a “nasty character.”

T Magazine: This is quite the month for my favorite femcee. You have the new CD, a new MTV documentary and a new lipstick for MAC.
If you’re not careful, you’re going to end up turning into Oprah and ruling the world.
Nicki Minaj:
Yes! I hope so. I love me some Oprah. It’s the beginning stage but I never imagined in a million years that this would be happening. It’s quite surreal.

T Magazine: Are you happy with your first CD?
Nicki Minaj: Of course! It’s amazing. Honestly, sometimes I get tired of some of the songs because they have been with me for so long but overall I never imagined that it would be something that I would cherish so much and be so proud of. Obviously, I’ve done mix tapes before but having the album out feels like I am finally a real artist, like I have the stamp of approval as an artist from myself.

T Magazine: You’re ready to be the superhero and not just the sidekick?
Nicki Minaj: Exactly. That’s why in “Roman’s Revenge,” the song I do with Eminem,
I say “I am not Jasmine, I’m Aladdin.” It’s time for the girl to be the main character, you know?

T Magazine: Well, you’ve always been a superhero to me and part of your weaponry has always been your makeup. It’s fitting that you now have your own lipstick.
Nicki Minaj: Isn’t it cool? Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m inspired by color and everyone knows I love pink. Actually, when I was first doing shoots people would always ask me to change my color of lipstick. Normally people wear different lipsticks, but pink is my thing and to change it would be like me changing my name when I walk out of the door.

T Magazine: A lot is made about your costumery, but tell me a bit about your personal style.
Nicki Minaj: When I’m just at home or in the studio, I’d rather be chill. I like to dress down on my personal time but when it’s time to go out it’s on. I do like a pop of color.

T Magazine: And I know you have been vocal in saying that it’s not all sex all the time, but you always wear body-con stuff.
Nicki Minaj: Yeah, but to me it’s less about wearing the tightest thing than wearing what makes me feel confident. Sometimes if something is too tight I’m not confident, I’m like, Don’t look!

T Magazine: I saw your documentary, “My Time Now,” and I have to say that parts of it, like when you cry talking about your grandmother’s passing, are heartbreaking. How hard is it to open up like that and talk about things like your dad doing crack?
Nicki Minaj:
It’s very hard and to be honest, he kind of caught me off guard when he asked me about my grandmother. I wasn’t prepared to answer that question. But that’s when you get the raw emotion and if being open about the things that have happened in my life inspires someone then it’s cool with me. I’ve done my part.

T Magazine: I thought it was also very important to show you in the studio, producing, writing on the fly, showing yourself as a creative person.
Nicki Minaj: Well, it’s hard to be a female rapper but it’s more tough being credited with the work that you put in as a female rapper because people assume that you’re not the brains behind the operation or that you’re not the one doing writing these lyrics. So letting people come into my world and see that I am doing these things is good for all girls.

T Magazine: That brings up an interesting point because I would be pretty remiss not to mention your spat with Lil’ Kim. When she badmouths you and others doesn’t that just make it even harder for female rappers?
Nicki Minaj: It does, it does. But the thing that I want to promote is that if you see someone doing their thing, give them their props. We all have it hard and face the same challenges as female emcees. Show some mutual love and respect for each other so that it doesn’t get nasty. And she can be a nasty character.

T Magazine: Speaking of characters, I wasn’t sure which of your alter egos would show up today. I was hoping for Roman.
Nicki Minaj: [Nicki laughs and puts on a thick English accent.] Sometimes if it’s really early in the morning, Roman gets cranky and doesn’t want to get out of bed. Roman is lazy, you know, he wants to stay out all night and not wake up so I send Nicki out into the world. Roman has to be conjured up and now you’ve conjured him.

T Magazine: You’ve said that Roman is a sister. Please tell me he helps out with your hair and makeup.
Nicki Minaj: Of course. Roman is leading the way when it comes to makeup and hair. He’s gay!

Kanye West‘s media trainer quit after just three days of working with the hotheaded rapper following his disastrous interview on the “Today” show this week.

West was invited onto the program to respond to comments ex-President George W. Bush had made to Matt Lauer about West calling him a racist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The rapper’s camp on Monday hired Susie Arons, an executive vice president at Rubenstein Communications, for help handling the interview. Collectively, they agreed West should cancel the interview, and it was called off Monday night.

But on Tuesday morning, Arons was notified that West was waiting at NBC’s Rockefeller Center studio for the Lauer chat, and she rushed over at West’s request.

According to a show insider, “West shut himself in a dressing room with Susie, and could be heard rehearsing possible questions and answers. But the interview began, and it was as though he had crammed for a test and then his mind went blank.”

West grew frustrated when a clip of him interrupting Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was shown and said, “Yo, how am

the thing in the middle while I’m talking?”

When Lauer and West took a break, West “huddled again with the media trainer because he still hadn’t found a way to express himself,” said our source. The disastrous interview aired Thursday, and Arons resigned from working with him yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, West, who attacked Lauer on Twitter after the interview, claiming he “forced his answers,” canceled his upcoming concert on “Today,” which had been scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving.

A rep for West called our story “malicious and clearly manufactured.” Reps for “Today” and Rubenstein had no comment.

Jay-Z took some time to sit down with BBC radio to discuss a variety of subjects including

Nicki Minaj is the latest celebrity to make the cover of the gay and lesbian
publication ‘Out’ Magazine, in the cover story talks about her gay-friendly lyrics.

Nicki once stated “I only stop for pedestrians or a real, real bad lesbian”,
says she created her lyrics to “empower women”, but at one time wonders if she took things too far….

Speaking on her lesbian audience, Nicki tells Out:

“I started making it my business to say things that would empower women, like, ‘Where my bad bitches at?’ to let them know, ‘I’m here for you,’ ” she says. “Then, when I started going to the shows and it was nothing but girls, it was like, Did I go too far with embracing my girls? Nicki also stressed that she doesn’t want to be owned by “labels” with her sexuality.
According to Minaj “she does what the hell she wants to do”
and the fans who listen to her music know exactly who she is.

“People who like me — they’ll listen to my music, and they’ll know who I am. I just don’t like that people want you to say what you are, who you are. I just am. I do what the fuck I want to do…The point is, everyone is not black and white. There are so many shades in the middle, and you’ve got to let people feel comfortable with saying what they want to say when they want to say it. I don’t want to feel like I’ve got the gun pointed at my head and you’re about to pull the trigger if I don’t say what you want to hear. I just want to be me and do me.”

On the advice he’d give to young Clifford Harris:
I would say man, if you knew what I knew, you would chill out… I would tell myself you’re going to be alright later on, all you have to do is cool out, you might not see it right now, but you have a reason to fall back. I just hope that I would listen.

On his best and worst character traits:
I can manage to be arrogant or confident as well as be humble and possess a certain level of humility. I can be aggressive and I can also be mild mannered.

On his future in hip hop:
I know I still have the ability to do it, but I don’t know if I have as much passion to do it as I once did… I might find that I’m more effective in another capacity, but I won’t know if I don’t ever try. DMX tells Arizona’s  Super Shake at 101.5 FM that he’s “built for war,” and in touch with his son, while Tashera speaks on X’s children out of wedlock, drugs.

Just days after being released from prison for his conviction of reckless driving, DMX  gave his first post-prison interview with Super Shake at the 101.5 Jamz Summer Jam concert in Arizona.  The rapper, who spent 18 out of the 90 days in jail, confirmed in his interview that he has split from his wife, Tashera Simmons, of 11 years.

Simmons, who will have her own reality show  called Tashera Simmons….Life After X, previously  gave greater detail for the reason for the divorce.

“He had four other children out of our marriage and I didn’t know,” she revealed in an interview. “I only found out about one, and it was the one in Maryland  that was public. It was all over the news and I still was gonna try to make it work [but] after we did the show Soul of a Man. I guess the women felt some kind of way because he was doing a lot of paying child support behind my back and giving them money without me knowing anything.” Tashera also spoke on her former partner’s drug addiction. “The drugs already was too much, but then the cheating, I didn’t even know he had time to do that. I mean, I never put it past him; I never say never but without protection? There was just a lot of unprotected sex  and I have kids to take care of. I started thinking about all of that and I was like, I can’t do it anymore. I felt he took me for granted.”

In spite of the split, X plans to better the relationship with his son, and even has a song on the way dedicated to his son.

“I’m good, life is good, God is great man,” the Yonkers rapper said in the Arizona interview. “And it’s gonna get better. With this last one, I had been sitting for 90 days, since like January or February and this whole time, by the grace  of God, I was given the opportunity to pick the time. I thought ‘Let me knock it out,’ because I got a lot of work to do in L.A. and I don’t want to get snagged, get it over with. It was only 90 days anyway. BFW, baby – built for war…[Me and my son's] relationship is not the best right now but it’s gonna get better. All he’s known his whole life is me being there and now me and his mother are separated, we’re not together anymore and it’s been like five, six years, but that’s my first born. That’s my baby.”
