Nas Announces His Tenth Solo Album
May 18th

Nas may not be putting out Lost Tapes 2, but promises to deliver with his forthcoming solo album. The Queens, New York rapper spoke with Billboard about progress to the follow-up to 2008’s Untitled, claiming that he’s in a new state of mind and is inspired by new cats in the game.
“The last record I did was, I was in a different place than I am now,” he said. “Now, I’m happy to express that different place and I’m just happy about music. I’m watching everyone do their thing, young guys, women, artists just doing they thing.”
Naming Odd Future, Lil Wayne, Drake and more as current influences, Nasty Nas said that his tenth solo LP doesn’t yet have a concept. “My new album that I’m working on is free flowing,” he said. “At this point, there’s not one concept that sums up the whole record. I’m just flowing. It’s really too early to tell who I’ll be collaborating with.”
He also acknowledged that Untitled wasn’t an entirely solid record, and that he’s learned from his mistakes. “I don’t want to look back on this record – because I can look back on my last record and I know that record, some songs didn’t belong there. I really overthought it. I don’t want it to be like that on this record,” he continued. “I want to be able to play this next record after it’s done and feel like I did it. I have to do something that’s new. It’s just in me. I have to do something that feels like it’s right right now, and it could last.”
I Hope this album does good!
Nas Goes Off On Def Jam Execs
Oct 8th

A email that Nasir Jones sent to Def Jam leaked yesterday, Nasty Nas blanked out on his record label, he went OFF on Def Jam execs for stifling his creativity and not putting out his long-awaited album Lost Tapes 2, a sequel to the previously released Lost Tapes 2002.
The message’s subject line was addressed “PUT MY SH*T OUT” it was sent to L.A. Reid, Steve Bartels, Chris Hicks and others
Check out Nas’ Rant…
From: Nas
To: LA Reid, Steve Bartels, Steve Gawley, Michael Seltzer, Joseph Borrino, Chris Hicks
Subject: PUT MY SHIT OUT!Peace to all,
With all do respect to you all, Nas is NOBODY’s slave. This is not the 1800?s, respect me and I will respect you.
I won’t even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the Artist @ the end of the day, they don’t connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist’s dream and aspirations. You don’t help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don’t even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren’t…. not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn’t work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn’t understand RAP. Pretty fucked up situation
This isn’t the 90?s though. Beefing with record labels is so 15 years ago. @ this point I just need you all to be very clear where I stand and how I feel about “my label.” I could go on twitter or hot 97 tomorrow and get 100,000 protesters @ your building but I choose to walk my own path my own way because since day one I have been my own man. I did business with Tommy Mottola and Donnie Einer, two of the most psycho dudes this business ever created. I worked well with them for one major reason……. they believed in me. The didn’t give a fuck about what any radio station or magazine said….those dudes had me.
Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog shit on a MAGICAL moment.
You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshit $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don’t even have shit coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let’s get money!

Nas is falling behind on Kelis’s pay out
Jun 24th

Even though Kelis and Nas have been legally divorced since May,
the court proceedings between Nas and Kelis are still ongoing.
the couple’s marriage was terminated May 25 2010th at that time
Nas was ordered to pay his estranged wife nearly $300,000 in spousal support.
Well Nas is not only behind on those payments, but is also behind on the singer’s mortgage totaling $52,989.22 in back payment for the estate.
TMZ reports that Nas is aware of being late on the six-figure support payments and is on a payment plan to catch up.
His lawyer Mark Kaplan reportedly filed for a payment plan in court allowing him to pay $17,500 up front before doubling the $7,888 he’s expected to pay monthly for the mortgage.
TMZ also says that Kelis’ lawyer Laura Wasser believes the rapper makes $244,826 a month.
This whole situation is a mess.. LOL I love how hood folks, all sudden act like they’ve always had money and are “accustomed” to a certain lifestyle, Kelis needs a real job instead of waiting for Nas’s handout….just saying.
Nas “Hip Hop is still DEAD”
May 26th

In 2006 Nas was the first rapper to proclaim that hip-hop was dead, in 2010 Nas’s sentiments have not changed.
According to Nas, “the games’ messed up cause everybody’s gangsta but they prima donnas.”
“it’s a beautiful thing, putting out music” says the rapper, whose been making albums since 1994.
“It ain’t the music business, it’s n*ggas and their sh*t.”
With the release of his new album with Damien Marley, Distant Relatives, Nas has made it clear that something is missing from the hip-hop world and part of that is due to the money hungry atmosphere it encompasses.
No longer are people focused on the elements and what is needed to make good music but the focus has been shifted towards marketing, and how to get the most money.
“If you feel good about it, put that sh*t out” Nas said.
I agree with NAS everything is a gimmick, you don’t have to be talented now a days
it’s all about selling an image or a fake facade…
wocka flacka said it himself “i don’t need no lyrics to be a rapper” ummm what part of the game is that?
I guess it’s true now a days, cus he’s the hottest thing in the south right now.
anyways check out his interview…
Nas speaks…
May 11th

Last month, Nas was ordered to pay more than $87,000 up front in back spousal and child support. In addition to that, the judge ordered him to pay his soon-to-be ex wife Kelis $10,000 a month in child support and an undisclosed amount for child support until he makes up the nearly $300,000 that he owes. Well recently Nasir Jones petitioned the court, he says there’s no way he can afford to pay all of that right now!
The judge presiding over Nas and Kelis’ divorce case, based the amount off of an estimated $152,031 per month income,
in new legal documents obtained by TMZ, shows that he makes “substantially less than that amount.”
Nas and his lawyer Marc Vincent Kaplan want the judge to take another look at his finances, and adjust the payments accordingly….I sure hope her milk shake was worth all this trouble!!
Nas recently sat down with Vibe magazine, he talked about his new project with Damien Marley and
he also talked about not being able to see his son when he wants… Kelis is getting paid and still making
Nas jump through a bunch of hoops… smh #wheretheydothatat?
VIBE: Some might consider Distant Relatives a preachy record. Were you conscious of that while recording, or do you even care?
Nas: That’s never a thought, you don’t want nobody thinking that you’re being preachy—I don’t like people being that way to me. I cant explain what it is, something else takes over when we in the studio. When I hear [Damian Marley] mention Shaka Zulu, Inca warriors, I can see them rising up from the dead. I feel like we’re speaking to our ancestors with our music. I don’t have time to know what somebody [else] is getting out of the song.
You’ve had a longstanding relationship with Africa, as many chuckled at your afrocentric role in Belly, and you’ve even made light of your “Back-to-Africa” praise on “Black Girl Lost” from It Was Written. Do you feel like your audience rejects Africa?
Yeah, it’s multiple reasons for it. We’re in the greatest country ever, in America, so any country that’s foreign to us is gonna not seem homely, especially a place that’s been so fucked over by other governments. Especially a place that seems so poor. The family tree root has been cut here in America. So when you’re talking about going back, you’re talking about a place that people don’t know as their home, and Africans who don’t see us as their people. But we’re their long lost brothers and sisters. There could be so much truth told about that continent that would encourage young people.
Did you learn anything new through the recording of the album?
Yeah, but I don’t wanna say, because if I start telling you what I learned, I might become a bigger target. It’s heavy, bro. I feel great about what we’ve done on the album. But if we were ever to do it again, I think [Damian and I would] both marked for death. We’re just making music for everyone to enjoy. There’s a side we didn’t talk about in Africa where things are really wrong. Preaching? That’s a joke. This is almost baby language.
Speaking of babies, this was the first time since making Illmatic that you became a dad again. How’d it feel to be awaiting you first son while recording Distant Relatives?
It’s amazing. It just made everything feel like it was right on time, you know? To have a daughter is amazing too, but when you’re a man, to have a son is different. My daughter is my princess and now I have a prince, so it’s a beautiful thing to have a son and a daughter. Now I have a little man. It’s the coolest shit ever.
How old is Knight? Is he walking yet?
He’s like nine months. He’s crawling, pulling himself to stand up. He said the word ‘stick’ about a month ago. He’s been talking for about two months, saying little words here and there.
Any of them rhyme?
Nah. [Laughs]
What was his first word?
I don’t know, it sounded like he was trying to say ‘hello.’ He was picking up on things very young, like two to three months if not sooner. It just throws you that we’re born knowing what’s up.
How often are you able to see him?
My son was born with ice grills, so when his mom feels in the mood she sends pictures. If not, its hell. It’s hell trying to figure that out, trying to get him—I’ll just leave it at that. It’s hell. A man shouldn’t go through that shit, but it’s another story I’ma tell at a different time.
I hear you.
Overall he’s super good, and when I do get him there’s nothing better in the whole world. When I get both my kids together its beautiful.
How does Destiny like being a big sister?
She’s going on 16 and she’s been waiting for it for years. She’s been great by herself, but she’s been ready for years. She’s good.
That’s what’s up. So I remember seeing a rumor online that said you were getting your Kelis tattoo removed from of your forearm. Any truth to that?
No words about any tattoos came from me this year or last year. So I don’t know what that is.
Do you feel a certain way about having the tattoo now after everything that’s been going on?
[Laughs] I don’t really think about tattoos, I just think about adding more, you know what I’m saying?
Do you think you’d ever get another tattoo like that?
OK.

Kelis’ new album cover… plus Nas has to pay up!
Apr 15th
In case you care Kelis’ new album is due to hit stores June 6, the cover for her album has just been released.
it’s called “Flesh Tone” This is her fifth album, it will feature production from Will.I.Am, David Guetta, Dj Ammo, Benny Benassi, Diplo, Dj Switch, Free School and Boys Noise.
I have no plans to buy the album, i wonder if she go’s platinum…
will the judge lower NAS’s child support and Alimony payments *kanyeshrug*…just saying!

if you havne’t heard NAS was ordered to pay more than $350,000 for a combination of back child support,
alimony and both lawyer and accountant fees, for him and kelis.
On Monday, he was told to immediately hand over $47,249 in back child support,
and $40,454 in back spousal support after failing to make the scheduled payments.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Nas was also punished with a $10,000 increase in the amount he has to pay Kelis on a monthly basis until he pays off the $299,000 he still owes her.
He’s also now responsible for a $155,787 bill for Kelis’ legal fees, as well as $48,549 to cover her accounting costs.
As far as I’m concerned Kelis is stright, so NO i will not be putting any more money in her pocket lol,
i would rather buy a c.d from a struggling artist real talk.
