Wyclef may have LIED about being shot smh
Mar 23rd

A Haitian police officer has put Wyclef Jean on BLAST! he states that the 911 singer
actually cut his hand on glass late Saturday, despite the singer’s report that his hand was shot
while standing outside his car in Haiti. Jean, who was pictured while receiving medical treatment for hand,
told reporters that his hand was grazed by a bullet as he exited a car to make a phone call.
“The way I can explain it is that the bullet grazed me in my right hand.”
Haitian police believe the incident was far different from what Jean is telling the media.
Police chief Vanel Lacroix of Petionville told Reuters,
“We met with the doctor who saw him and he confirmed Wyclef was cut by glass.”
Jean says he does not know if the alleged gun shots were directed towards him, nor does he know who shot at him.
A few of us on my fanpage suspected it may have been done for attention, especially after the video came out of
him and praswell being buddy, buddy…I still wanted to give Wyclef the benefit of doubt,
well this does it for me, this man has been place on my #attentionwhores list LOL, this is a shame smdh.

Wyclef disses Sean Penn and Pras
Sep 6th

As previously reported, the former Fugee’s dreams were crushed after Haiti’s electoral council determined that he did not meet the minimum 5 year residency requirement and rejected him and 14 other candidates from running for President.
During Clef’s campaign he was criticized by Sean Penn and his former band mate Pras, who raised eyebrows at his decision to run and questioned his qualifications.
Now Clef is speaking out against both and took the stage at Hot 97′s “On Da Reggae Tip” concert to air out his grievances.
Taking the stage at the show, Clef dissed Penn for reported cocaine use and took a shot at the former best man at his wedding Pras, in his song “If I Was President” saying,
“If I was president….I got a message for Sean Penn, maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine. I got a message for Praswell, even though you don’t want to support me, I got love for you, even though you only kicked 8 bars on the entire fugee album.
This is the funniest shit iv’e heard in a while clef killed it!

Chuck D speaks about Wyclef
Sep 3rd

Source: hiphop wired
Hip-Hop pioneer Chuck D has recently voiced his opinion regarding Wyclef’s decision to run for Presidency in his home country Haiti.
In an interview with VladTV.com, Chuck D states that although Wyclef was disqualified, his decision to run for President would have been great for the country that has been “torn between Spaniards and the French” since its inception.
“I think he is justified,” Chuck D said in the interview. “Everything up to this point has failed because the white man has had his western hand in an island that has been split between Spaniards and the French, so from the beginning the country seemed damned.”
In addition to speaking about Wyclef, Chuck D also discussed what has led to the country impoverished state, even before the earthquake and what he feels would take to help along the road to recovery.
“I think that right now then [Wyclef's] positive energy,” Chuck D continued. “I think that the country had been raped for so long by the white man and by western hands, that they need him to come in and give everything a different direction.”
Chuck also discussed whether politics was in his future plans.
“Hell no,” Chuck D said. “Maybe a cultural advisor, because I am all about bringing people together. “

Pras speaks about why he is not supporting Wyclef
Aug 24th

why he is not supporting his former band mate wyclef’s run for presidency.
source: nymag
So, why is Wyclef not qualified for the position?
He’s not the one that’s able to unite the whole country. I think that he does have a core constituent group, but in order for Haiti to move progressively and rapidly forward, it’s going to need a person that represents more than just a particular group. Wyclef likes to talk about the youth. The youth doesn’t mean much in the sense of government. You know how the youth are; the minute the next iPod comes out, iPod 6, they’re focusing on that. They’re not gonna be the ones that let you know how you should improve the education system, they’re not gonna be there to show you how to build a grid system, or to pave the roads, or to build green, solar homes. Yes, they are an important group, but they should be treated as kids. You bring them along. You don’t base your whole campaign on them just because a bunch of kids are running around in the streets with your T-shirts on.
Wyclef’s charity, Yele Haiti, had some public tax issues. Should that be taken into consideration for his candidacy?
I don’t know if I buy that argument. It was a start-up, a new foundation, and they didn’t know how to do what needed to be done on that accounting caliber to prevent you from going through the embarrassment that he went through. But you look at the fundamentals. For example, the guy who wants to be the leader of that country, his approach dictates the tone to the rest of the country. Wyclef, he doesn’t speak the language of the country! He doesn’t speak French at all, and his Creole is similar to Jackie Chan’s English — no disrespect to Jackie Chan. How are you gonna be an effective leader, how are you gonna be inspiring the youth, if you’re telling them to forget French, forget Creole, speak English? That’s in their blood, that’s 200 years of culture. It’d be like Obama coming in and telling people to speak Cantonese.
Michel Martelly, the candidate you are endorsing, is also a musician. What makes him the right man for the job?
He’s a transformative figure. Michel is one of the only guys that can unite not only the whole country — the elite, the masses, the youth, the Christians, the voodoo guys — but also the diaspora, the Haitians out here in America, Africa. He’s the ambassador for environmental protection, for disaster relief, and he has a foundation that’s been helping out the community for seventeen years. Michel served in the army. He’s not doing it for photo ops … People have this affinity for him that is natural. When you have that as a leader, it goes farther than someone coming in who’s popular.
Who are the other lead candidates?
There’s four people in this race, but really two: It’s Wyclef and Michel. The person who’s supposed to be the most qualified politically, it’s this guy Jacques-Edouard Alexis. Probably that’s the guy that’s most hated. Then you have Charlie Baker, you have Wyclef’s uncle Raymond Joseph — but none of those people mean anything because it’s all about popularity in Haiti.
How has your relationship with Wyclef changed since the Fugees ended?
First of all, I love Wyclef to death. I was one of his best men along with his brother at his wedding. Like any relationship, we had our ups and downs, we had our times when we weren’t talking. Then there were times when we were great friends. People have different interests, you have different entourages, different people come into your life. That’s what happened with Wyclef. But we were cool until I saw that he was running. As much as I love Wyclef, I want to make this clear: I would rather lose Wyclef as a friend, brother, and save a nation of 10 million Haitians. I’d rather have them be liberated, rather than have them go down off a cliff and not be saved, just to keep a friend. You understand what I’m saying to you?
Have you contacted Wyclef since you made your endorsement public?
I reached out to him twice and he never reached back to me. I don’t know if it’s the crew, the election campaign, or if it’s just, you know, he’s ignoring me — I don’t know which one it is. I haven’t gotten any response from him.
Have you spoken to Lauryn Hill recently?
Lauryn Hill is doing her own thing; I don’t think this means that much to her … You gotta keep in mind, Wyclef, him running for president, if he didn’t pass [registration] — today it comes out at five o’clock. So this might be a moot conversation.
What could be the holdup?
Residency. That’s big over there.
Last thing: Are you working on new music?
Oh yeah, definitely. I have a new group coming out, called Axis, that’s going back to the original [format of the Fugees], me and two girls. It’s gonna be out relatively very, very soon.
Pras also took so time out to speak to the AP about why he is not
supporting his former band mate Wyclef,
I think Praz’ statements were well thought out and guinea,
unlike wyclef who I feel is trying to run for attention.

Wyclef plans to appeal his ban on Haiti Presidential Candidacy
Aug 23rd

“After careful consideration and much soul-searching, I have made the decision to contest Haiti’s board of election’s pronouncement stating that I am ineligible to run for the presidency of the country,” Mr. Jean said. “I will be seeking a solution through legal channels, and I urge my countrymen to be patient through this process.”
Mr. Jean told the Associated Press Sunday that he qualified to run and that the government’s decision to bar him from the race was based on politics.
Late Friday, the Haitian government commission in charge of the election released a list of eligible candidates that didn’t include Mr. Jean. Under Haitian law, Mr. Jean needed to prove he had five consecutive years of residency before election day.
Mr. Jean was born in Haiti, but moved to the U.S. when he was a child and was raised there. He rose to fame in the 1990s as a vocalist with hip-hop act The Fugees, and has been active in Haitian social causes since.
Over the weekend, United Nations peacekeepers mobilized in Port-au-Prince in anticipation of unrest related to the announcement. “We are aware that the release of the list of prospective candidates could cause rallies or [a] mass movement,” said Jean-François Vezina, a spokesman for the United Nations police.
Mr. Jean earlier said he had been “drafted” by Haitian’s youth, leading to speculation of big protests.
Witnesses in Port-au-Prince said the streets of the city were relatively calm Sunday.
On Thursday, Mr. Jean met with Haitian President René Préval, leading to media speculation that Mr. Préval was preparing Mr. Jean for a decision against his candidacy. A spokesman for Mr. Jean confirmed the meeting, but before the decision said Mr. Jean “emerged cautiously optimistic.”
A spokeswoman for Mr. Jean said: “[Mr. Jean's] most urgent concern is peace and prosperity for Haiti, and the wellness of all Haitians. He is prepared to cooperate with the next president of his homeland but surely hopes he is elected and will serve for these crucial years.”
Mr. Jean’s bid for president had attracted renewed attention to the island after a deadly Jan. 12 earthquake.
Long before making the bid, Mr. Jean had taken up a post as “roving ambassador” for the country, in an effort to raise awareness of the country’s poverty.
But his charitable activity has also generated controversy. Several watchdog groups accused Mr. Jean’s charitable foundation, Yele Haiti, of bad accounting on its tax filings and Mr. Jean of inappropriate management in paying himself with the charity’s funds. Mr. Jean has denied wrongdoing.
I think Wyclef is beating a dead horse he needs to let it go, if they make a way for wyclef to run
then they will need to do the same for everyone else, it may be more trouble then it’s worth.
Wyclef Officially Pulls his Bid For Haiti’s Presidency
Aug 21st

The news broke Friday that Clef had been denied a bid for Presidency because of residency issues.
The Haitian government requires that candidates live in the country for a minimum of 5 years before running.
Clef is a legal resident of the U.S. and resides in New Jersey.
Haiti’s electoral commission approved 19 candidates and rejected 15, including Jean.
While not admitting that Wyclef’s bid for Presidency was denied due to residency issues,
the board instead approved two leading presidential candidates,
former Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis and Yvon Neptune.
Clef has released a statement to The Huffington Post stating:
It is with a heavy heart that I tell you today that the board of elections in Haiti has disqualified me from my run for the presidency of the country. Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee’s final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same. We must all honor the memories of those we’ve lost–whether in the earthquake, or at anytime–by responding peacefully and responsibly to this disappointment…“I want to assure my countrymen that I will continue to work for Haiti’s renewal; though the board has determined that I am not a resident of Haiti, home is where the heart is–and my heart has and will always be in Haiti. This ruling just tells me that I can’t officially seek the office of president. More importantly, there is no one who can tell me to stop my work in Haiti, and there is no one who could. I think of my daughter, Angelina, and it makes me want to redouble my efforts to help give all the children in Haiti better days…
Rest assured, this isn’t the end of my efforts to help improve my beloved country but only marks a new beginning.
Signed, Wyclef Jean”
I’m sorry but I’m starting to feel all of this “bid for presidency” was another ploy
for attention, Clef had to clearly know the requirements before for running for the president seat.
He clearly thought everyone would overlook the “small details” because he was wyclef.
If Clef is truly genuine about running for president,
then he needs to move to Haiti for the next 5yrs and try running again in 2015,
let’s see if he is willing to make that move… I’m not going to hold my breath.
Wyclef Will NOT be president of Haiti
Aug 20th

Wyclef Jean will not be the next President of Haiti,
the electoral council of Haiti has decided that Wyclef was not on the list of approved candidates
who satisfy legal requirements to run in the election.
A representative from the CEP, Haiti’s electoral council, announced to the press after Wyclef
met with Haitian President Rene Preval for more than two hours on Thursday.
Wyclef told the Associated Press that he felt the exchange with Rene Preval was positive:
“I feel good,” the former Fugees frontman said. “I feel that the president that I voted for five years ago is the same person that was sitting in front of me today.”
The country’s electoral council, which is known as the CEP,
was supposed to release the presidential candidate list on Tuesday, but postponed the decision.
Haiti’s electoral law requires candidates to have five consecutive years of residency in Haiti,
among other requirements, such as tax compliance.
Wyclef claimed he met those requirements but he didn’t,
I believe he felt his fame would help the government
over look the requirements, WHOOMP WHOOMP better luck next time Wyclef.
Wyclef States Upcoming Album Will Be His Last Album If Elected President Of Haiti
Aug 14th

Haitian Presidential candidate Wyclef Jean has announced that he has decided to take a break from music to focus on his political campaign.
In a video interview, Wyclef states that his inspiration to run for president came after the devastating Haitian earthquake and after observing how the political machine in the country has been ran for the last 200 years.
“I honestly made the decision to run after watching the country being ran the same way for over 200 years,” Wyclef said. “It is important that we get a breath of fresh air. When you have a youth population that is the majority that can’t read and can’t write that’s a problem.”
Wyclef also states that building his native country’s economy is top priority on his agenda.
“We used to be a country with a great export market that made up the majority of the country’s economy,” Wyclef continued. “In order to make an impact in the 21st Century, you need a president that can travel the globe.”
In addition Wyclef has braced fans that if elected he will no longer be making music.
“As sad as it sounds we are putting the final touches on what could be the last Wyclef album,” Wyclef said. “I think that if the vote turns out like it should, that my primary focus will be rebuilding Haiti.”

Wyclef responds to Sean Penn’s criticism
Aug 6th

Wyclef Jean is now responding to actor Sean Penn
for publicly criticizing him after announcing his official bid for President Of Haiti.
Penn was quoted live on CNN stating:
that the impoverished country’s next leader had to be “genuinely willing to sacrifice” and that he “hadn’t seen or heard of Wyclef since he’d traveled to Haiti to help relief efforts.”
Now Wyclef’s firing back at the actor via Twitter #sideeye…
Wyclef said that he should meet with him to “fully understand the man.”
“I just want Sean Penn to fully understand I am a Haitian, born in Haiti and I’ve been coming to my country ever since (I was) a child. He might just want to pick up the phone and meet, so he fully understands the man.”
Clef is also facing opposition from his very own bandmate Pras from the Fugees.
Pras has been adamant about not endorsing his old musical partner,
he has instead encouraged people to vote for his opponent Michel Martelly.
Lauryn hill has yet to speak on the situation,
Do you believe folks are just”hating” on Wyclef… or does he need to sit down some where?
Here goes the video of Wyclef stating he is running for the President Of Haiti
Aug 6th

Wyclef Jean has officially announced plans to run for the President Of Haiti.
rumors swirled last week about his bid for candidacy but had yet to be confirmed.
Now the former Fugee has officially announced his plans to step down
as the head of Yele Haiti the foundation…and officially run for president in Haiti.
Wyclef spoke about his upcoming run for President in an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN’s Larry King Live.
He tells the news commentator,
“This is my first time announcing it live…I feel that me running, it brings a neutral situation, meaning that Wyclef Jean can sit with any political party, have a conversation. I’m coming in neutral … I represent the voice of the youth which is over 50% of the population.”
Cable News Network also asked several people their opinions on Wyclef vying for Presidency including actor and philanthropist Sean Penn.
Penn admitted on the television program that he was skeptical of Clef’s seemingly rash decision and told Blitzer,
“What the Haitian people need now is a leader who’s genuinely willing to sacrifice. One reason I don’t know very much about Wyclef Jean because I haven’t seen or heard of him in these last six months that I’ve been in Haiti. I think he’s an important voice. I hope he doesn’t sacrifice that voice by taking the eye off the very devastating realities on the ground and the very difficult strategic future it’s got in putting itself back together.”
Surprisingly, Wyclef’s former Fugees bandmate Pras has also decided not to endorse him and instead took to his Twitter page to praise his opponent.
“All Haitians around the world it’s going to take all of us to start this reconstruction for Haiti !!! Michel Martelly for president 2010!!! It’s official the people are asking for it I’m here in the belly of Haiti I endorse Michel Martelly as the next president of Haiti!!!!!”
Check out Wyclef on CNN below.
I wonder if Sean Penn hating or speaking the truth…
